OMU and İŞKUR Partner to Provide Work Experience for Students

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and Samsun Provincial Directorate of the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) have signed a cooperation protocol under the İŞKUR Youth Program, aiming to enhance students’ employability. The protocol was signed by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Samsun İŞKUR Director Gökhan Dürümlü.

As part of this agreement, OMU students will gain valuable work experience during their studies, facilitating their transition into the job market after graduation. A total of 1,613 OMU students will benefit from the program.

Application Requirements and Payment Details

To apply, students must:
• Be actively enrolled in full-time education
• Have a family income below three times the minimum wage (66,312 TL)
• Have been unemployed for at least one month

Participants can work up to three days per week and will receive 1,083 TL per day. Depending on the number of working days per month, students can earn:
• 5 days → 5,415 TL
• 14 days → 15,162 TL

Additionally, general health insurance, occupational accident, and disease premiums will be covered by İŞKUR.

Application Dates and Process

Applications will be accepted from February 10-14 via the İŞKUR Youth Platform or the İŞKUR Mobile App. Students can access more details at genclik.iskur.gov.tr.

During the signing ceremony, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between theory and practice, stating:

"We aim to strengthen our students’ position in the labor market by providing them with real-world experience. We are open to all kinds of collaborations that support young people in achieving their career goals. The İŞKUR Youth Program will not only offer financial support but also prepare our students for professional life."

Samsun İŞKUR Director Gökhan Dürümlü highlighted the value of such collaborations with public universities, noting:

"This program will provide OMU students with significant work experience during their education and help them integrate more effectively into the workforce."

The signing ceremony, also attended by OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, concluded with a commemorative photo session.
