The founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who has left an indelible mark on Turkish and world history, was honored on the 86th anniversary of his passing in a ceremony held at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Kurupelit Campus.
The 10th of November Commemoration Ceremony took place at the Atatürk Monument in Kurupelit Campus, beginning with the laying of a wreath by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten. Following this, at 09:05 a.m., the time of Atatürk's passing, participants observed a moment of silence and sang the Turkish National Anthem.
The ceremony saw the attendance of Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer, University Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar, senate members, academic and administrative staff, and students. Meanwhile, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın participated in the 10th of November memorial activities organized by the Samsun Governorship in the city center.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten reflected on the significance of the day, honoring the founder of the Turkish Republic, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with deep respect and gratitude on the 86th anniversary of his passing.
In her commemorative message, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın expressed, "I remember Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect, gratitude, and reverence. In line with the modern values that our Republic's founder entrusted to us, we will continue to work tirelessly for a brighter future."
