Aid Collected at Ondokuz Mayıs University Was Sent to Earthquake Zone

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) set out for the disaster area with the aid truck containing 21 thousand products collected for the earthquake disaster, which was the biggest disaster of the century and affected ten provinces.

The donations collected in the Sports Hall of the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Yaşar East were sent to the regions affected by the earthquake under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal and Provincial Health Director Dr. Muhammet Ali Oruç.

In addition to the much-needed medical supplies and medicine, items on AFAD's priority needs list; "Quilts, blankets, generators, electric heaters, large-small gas cylinders, pocket heaters, power banks, generators, children's (1-5 years old) and adult coats, winter socks, shoes for men and women, fleece for men and women, underwear, sleeping bags, pillows, disposable plates, cups, forks and spoons, canned meat, cheese, canned food, tea, coffee, water, bread, and ready-made food," were collected.

The aid campaign was carried out with the active participation of staff and students

Rector Yavuz Ünal, who stated that aid was collected in a short time within the framework of the aid campaign carried out with the active participation of OMU's staff and students, said, "On Monday, February 6, donations started to be collected, and we are sending them to the earthquake zone as soon as the vehicles are full. As rescue images come from the earthquake area, we feel some relief. The fact that our citizens who survived the earthquake do not feel cold and their stomachs are full make us work stronger here. We are extremely grateful to our citizens who helped us."

2. Search and Rescue Team dispatched to the area

Rector Ünal stated that they dispatched our second Search and Rescue Team to the region and said, "A team of about 40 doctors, nurses, health personnel, and technical personnel from the Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculty Hospital was sent by the university bus. We are keeping 60 medical personnel ready in teams. They will be sent to the earthquake zone with their equipment in line with the incoming demands."

Aid will continue to be collected until the second order

Aid to be sent to the earthquake zone will continue to be collected at Ondokuz Mayıs University until the second order. Donations will continue to be collected at the Yaşar Doğu Sports Sciences Faculty Sports Hall until 20:00 daily.
