The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andrii Sybiba, who came to Samsun for a series of business visits and increase interregional cooperation, visited Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç, accompanied by the Ukrainians of Black Sea Association Chairman Liudmyla Shymko and accompanying committee.
During the visit held at the Rectorial Office, Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç and Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Sybiba exchanged ideas in order to increase the cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey at the level of universities.
Ambassador Sybiba stated they admired Samsun and said “I wish we find partner universities and cooperate in the field of education. For instance, Ukraine is very advanced in the field of aeronautical engineering. We can cooperate in this field as well in addition to other fields. I would like to host you in Ukraine as well.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç stated their satisfaction because of the visit and said “We love you and your people. We would highly appreciate collaborating with you. We are a well-established and big university. 3300 international students from 103 countries are receiving education at our university at the moment. We give importance to collaboration with international universities.”
Head of International Relations Office Prof. Rıdvan Kızılkaya mentioned collaborations conducted in the international field during the warm visit and said that negotiations were proceeding at present with 5 Ukrainian universities.
After speeches, Ambassador Sybiba and Chairman Shymko gave a present to Rector Bilgiç.
Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç thanked in return presenting the ambassador a crystal Atatürk statue, the symbol of Samsun.
