Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and VARER Defense and Aviation will collaborate on joint research and development (R&D) projects. OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal and VARER Defense and Aviation Chairman Tarık Varer conducted an inspection of Samsun Technopark, which will serve as the base for these R&D activities.
The visit focused on strengthening cooperation between the university and industry and exploring potential joint projects. Discussions revolved around the innovative solutions and technologies that could emerge from the synergy of academic knowledge and industrial expertise.
VARER Defense to Open an R&D Facility at Samsun Technopark
VARER, specializing in producing tripod mounts for weapons and other defense materials, holds a NATO Facility Security Certificate and aims to increase its R&D activities in the defense and energy sectors. The company plans to open an R&D branch in Samsun Technopark’s Ballıca Extension Area and conduct collaborative research activities with OMU there.
Supporting Regional Employment
The company’s efforts will focus on R&D and production of strategic products in the defense sector, particularly those related to nationalization efforts. The partnership with OMÜ at Samsun Technopark aims to support regional employment by expanding the company’s export capacity through local production.
