The new President of the Bafra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Serdal Sefa Kocabaş, visited Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal in his office.
Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cengiz Batuk and Prof. Dr. Selim Eren, University Secretary General Prof. Dr. İdris Varıcı, Bafra CCI Secretary General Talip Şahin, and Deputy Secretary General Ayhan Avcı were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the current situation and field studies aimed at increasing the awareness and level of cooperation between OMU and Bafra CCI were analyzed. At the same time, the expectations of the parties were also discussed.
In the meeting, Bafra CCI President Kocabaş stated that they are demanding the sustainability of university-industry cooperation and moving it to a higher level. He said that they are open to academic knowledge and contribution at this point.
Pointing out that innovation-oriented initiatives will trigger the said cooperation, President Kocabaş added that collective efforts in this direction would strengthen the region's competitiveness.
Rector Ünal emphasized that research and development (R&D) and technological entrepreneurship are the basis of the university-industry cooperation process and stated that the steps towards maturing and consolidating the interdisciplinary working and partnership culture and practices for the parties should be accelerated. Rector Ünal noted that in this direction, various formats and approaches would offer essential alternatives to add dynamism to the said cooperation.
Referring to the importance of investing in the values unique to Bafra regarding regional development, Rector Ünal shared his thoughts and evaluations in this direction with his guests.
