A significant research project is being implemented under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdem Küçüktopçu, a faculty member of the Department of Agricultural Structures and Irrigation at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Agriculture.

The project proposal titled "New Approaches in Predicting Airflow Drop Distance: Neural Networks and Computational Fluid Dynamics" has been deemed worthy of support by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). Dr. Küçüktopçu is the project manager who submitted the project under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program. Prof. Dr. Bilal Cemek, a faculty member from the OMU Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, is a researcher in the project.

The project aims to develop a current model capable of predicting the drop distance of airflow in poultry houses using neural networks and computational fluid dynamics models.

Providing information about the project, the project manager Dr. Küçüktopçu said, "Especially in broiler chicken breeding, indoor environmental conditions in poultry houses directly affect the animals' productivity. Irregular air distribution and the direct contact of cold air entering from vents during winter months can lead to an increase in respiratory diseases and productivity losses. Within the context of this project, it is considered that monitoring and evaluating the indoor air distribution using the computational fluid dynamics method could provide significant economic gains to enterprises engaged in broiler chicken production."
