Samsun's Havza district, renowned for its thermal springs, is home to the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Havza Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, which treats approximately 250 patients daily.
Established in 2019 under the OMU umbrella, the center provides services to patients needing physical therapy. These patients also benefit from the district's hot springs, which reach up to 53 degrees Celsius.
The center offers accommodation for guests and patients in its 19 rooms, which include 42 beds and thermal pools.
Prof. Dr. İlker İlhanlı: Comprehensive Treatment for Pain and Rehabilitation
OMU Faculty of Medicine's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department lecturer and the center's chief physician, Prof. Dr. İlker İlhanlı, spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter about the range of treatments offered. He mentioned that patients suffering from neck, back, hip, knee, and joint pain find relief at the center.
Prof. Dr. İlhanlı stated that approximately 250 patients are treated daily by a team of specialists. "Our areas of interest include herniated discs, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and inflammatory and non-inflammatory joint rheumatisms. Additionally, we provide rehabilitation for patients with vascular occlusions, stroke, and paralysis due to brain hemorrhage, spinal cord injuries causing paralysis, lymphedema, and certain orthopedic conditions," he explained.
Serving the Wider Region and Beyond
Highlighting the center's wide-reaching service area, Prof. Dr. İlhanlı noted that patients come from across the entire Black Sea region and parts of Central Anatolia. "We accept patients from all surrounding provinces and districts. Efforts are ongoing to admit international patients as part of health tourism. We also receive significant interest from expatriates living abroad," he added.
