In collaboration with the Minimal Invasive Urology Association, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Department of Urology organized "Laparoscopic Surgery Courses" for urology specialists.

Theoretical and practical training sessions were held at OMU Faculty of Medicine from August 26-29 and September 2-5, with the participation of 17 urology specialists from various provinces across Türkiye.

The participants had the opportunity to observe cases and techniques in an operating room environment and receive training on surgical procedures and patient preparation.

Prof. Dr. Ender Özden, a faculty member at OMU Faculty of Medicine's Department of Surgical Medical Sciences, and a member of the Minimal Invasive Urology Association's Board of Directors, explained to an AA (Anadolu Agency) correspondent that they organized this training for their colleagues on "minimal invasive" surgical methods, which are widely known as "closed surgery" and cause the least harm to patients.

Prof. Dr. Özden highlighted that the association's mission is to teach minimal invasive techniques to fellow professionals and share the latest advancements. "This is an educational institution. Postgraduate education is a crucial part of such training programs," he said.

Özden also mentioned that his colleagues are making great efforts to learn and improve minimal invasive techniques, adding:

"We organized a two-week course in this regard. We created four different course programs. Urology specialists from various cities in Türkiye attended. We exchanged both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences in the operating room. The first live surgical broadcasts in Türkiye were conducted by the Department of Urology at Ondokuz Mayıs University. This can be seen as a continuation of that initiative because education is continuous."
