Art Exhibition "A Woman’s Narrative" Receives Great Interest

The program began with the opening of an art exhibition titled "A Woman’s Narrative," coordinated by Prof. Dr. Elif Şenel from the OMU Faculty of Fine Arts and curated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceylan Sebik Gündüz. The exhibition attracted significant interest from art enthusiasts, drawing attention to the role of women in artistic expression.

During the opening speeches, all women attending the event were wished a happy International Women’s Day. OMÜKAM Director Prof. Dr. Mucize Ünlü emphasized the significant roles of women in society, underlining the event's purpose and delivering a meaningful message to the attendees.

“We Work to Strengthen Women’s Role in Social and Economic Life”

Discussing the history of March 8, OMÜKAM Director Prof. Dr. Mucize Ünlü stated:

"Recognized by the United Nations in 1977, International Women’s Day has become a global symbol of the fight for women's rights and gender equality. As OMÜKAM, we work not only on March 8 but throughout the year to strengthen women's role in social and economic life, raise awareness, and develop support mechanisms.

We collaborate with local stakeholders and university academicians to conduct various educational programs and projects. So far, our center has conducted an anonymous scientific project and a studio project focusing on women. Additionally, we publish the 'Journal of Women and Family Studies' to contribute to academic research in this field."

"With Your Support, We Are Determined to Take Our Efforts Further"

Prof. Dr. Ünlü continued:

"In 2019, our center received an award jointly presented by Koç University and Türkiye's Economic Newspaper. Additionally, we had previously won an award for a TÜBİTAK-supported project led by Prof. Dr. Hatice Kumcağız, focusing on developing leadership skills among working women.

With the support of our community, we are determined to take our efforts further. We hope to see women achieve the positions they deserve in every field, and we dream of a future free from gender-based violence and inequalities. We celebrate International Women's Day with these aspirations in mind."

“Tales for Women” Performance Captivates the Audience

Following the speeches, Dr. Canan Demirci performed a storytelling session titled "Tales for Women," which received significant interest from attendees.
