The Havza Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, affiliated with Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Medicine Hospital, is making significant strides in treating musculoskeletal diseases, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and lymphedema following cancer treatment. As of 2024, the center has served 4,044 patients, contributing substantially to health tourism development in the Black Sea region.
The center treats a variety of conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, painful ailments, osteoarthritis, herniated discs, and lymphedema caused by cancer treatment. Additionally, neurological diseases such as strokes, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are treated by expert teams. The facility welcomes an average of 250 patients daily. Prof. Dr. İlker İlhanlı, the responsible physician at the Havza Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, stated, “Our professional team of specialist doctors, physiotherapists, and healthcare technicians meticulously oversees the treatment processes of our patients. Moreover, we offer personalized treatment options tailored to individual needs.”
Prof. Dr. İlhanlı emphasized that the center provides healthcare services not only to Samsun but also to neighboring provinces. Highlighting the role of psychosocial support in speeding up recovery, İlhanlı said, “We support the treatment process not only physically but also mentally. Additionally, we provide applied training opportunities in a real clinical environment for students from OMU Faculty of Medicine and other health-related departments.”
Havza’s natural thermal water sources possess therapeutic properties for various health issues, including musculoskeletal disorders, neurological problems, and chronic pain. İlhanlı noted, “By utilizing the healing power of thermal water, we offer our patients a faster and more effective treatment process. Thermal water therapy sessions enhance recovery and improve patients’ responses to treatment. Facilities such as thermal pools, saunas, and Turkish baths help patients physically and mentally rejuvenate.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Tural, Director of Havza Vocational School, stated, “Students from the Tourism and Hotel Management and Physiotherapy departments gain hands-on training at the Havza Thermal Hotel and Physical Therapy Center, contributing to the development of skilled professionals in the sector. These practical training opportunities enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, enhancing their qualifications.”
With a 40-room, 88-bed accommodation facility, the Havza Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center integrates health services with lodging to offer a holistic wellness experience. Guests enjoy half-board services, including buffet-style breakfast and dinner, featuring a variety of local and international cuisines. Amenities such as thermal pools, saunas, and Turkish baths accelerate recovery processes and provide relaxation. Additionally, patients staying at the hotel can continue their physical therapy in a comfortable environment.
The center provides various discounts to patients, including a 25% discount for stays of 10 days or more, 15% for retired public servants, and 20% for nearby residents and veterans. Groups of 15 or more benefit from a 10% discount on collective accommodations. These benefits make treatment processes more economical for patients.
