The opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year and the white coat ceremony at Ondokuz Mayıs University's (OMU) Faculty of Medicine began with a lecture titled "Building the Future with Brain, Quantum, and Artificial Intelligence at the Peak of Science and Technology," delivered by Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Aydın.

The ceremony, held at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, was attended by OMU Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Cengiz Çokluk, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Tevfik Sünter, Faculty of Medicine Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Davut Güven, faculty members, and students.

"Our university has shown significant progress in education and healthcare services over 51 years."

Dean Prof. Dr. Cengiz Çokluk remarked that the OMU Faculty of Medicine was established in 1973, stating, "Our faculty trains future doctors to evaluate diagnosis and treatment processes comprehensively. In addition to equipping students with the ability to follow world medical literature, we instill the values they need to become conscientious, compassionate, and humane individuals. The goal is for them to become doctors who are firmly committed to the principles and reforms of Atatürk."

"You will have the privilege of learning from some of Türkiye's most qualified faculty members."

Addressing the new medical students, Prof. Çokluk said, "You have earned a place at one of the most prestigious institutions in our country, Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. This faculty is named after the date when our eternal Commander-in-Chief, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, arrived in Samsun to begin the national struggle. You will have the privilege of learning from some of Türkiye's most qualified faculty members. Make the most of this opportunity. As you embark on this challenging journey, it is crucial to prepare yourself well so that you can make your family and nation proud. Graduating as a doctor and passing the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) are only some of the steps in this journey. The most important thing is to become a doctor who is open to lifelong learning, upholds high human values, embraces scientific and universal principles, and remains steadfast, idealistic, and empathetic. With these thoughts in mind, I wish you all success in the 2024-2025 academic year, and I greet you with respect and affection."
